Boston Crimes -Data Analysis
I came across an article related to the crimes in Boston while planning a trip to Boston, which motivated me to find a dataset containing crime trends and unsafe areas of Boston. I analyzed a large data set representing crime rate in 2021 to 2022 using Python libraries. Type of crime, Shooting Occurrence, Date, Time, and District are some of the criteria I used. Based on the given statistics and visualizations, some important conclusions concerning the relationship between crime trends and other criteria were drawn. It's intriguing to observe how the data paints a picture of people's safety in the Greater Boston Area.
Boston is famed for its rich culture and must-see historical monuments. However, Boston, like most cities, has a high crime rate. From homicide to petty theft, the city will see 36,136 different crimes in a year. It has a population of approximately 685,094 people and receives over 19 million tourists each year. However, with 655 violent crimes per 100,000, Boston has begun to fall behind 83 percent of US cities in terms of safety. What is the reason for this? Isn't it odd that you have a one in 99 chance of becoming a victim of crime in Boston compared to one in 296 overall Massachusetts? That's a colossal figure!
